SEJARAH

Marine Science Study Program (MSSP) Hasanuddin University, was first established in 1988 under the name of Marine Science and Technology Study Program, by the Minister of Education Decree No. 18/DIKTI/Kep/1988 dated 14 May 1988.

In 1996, the name Marine Science and Technology Study Program (MSTSP) was changed to Marine Science Study Program (MSSP) based on the Decree of Directorate General of Higher Education No.532/DIKTI/Kep/1996 and accommodated in the Faculty of Marine Science and Fisheries (Minister of Education and culture Decree, No. 036/0/1996 dated 29 January 1996).

Currently, Marine Science Study Program, Faculty of Marine Science and Fisheries has accredited grade A by the National Accreditation Board, based on the Decree of National Accreditation Board for Higher Education, The Republic of Indonesia. The accreditation grade took effect on 15th November 2014 and expires on 14th November 2019.

The Marine Science Study Program (MSSP) of Hasanuddin University was established in

changed to Marine Science Study Program (MSSP), under Decree of the Director General
of Higher Education No.532/DIKTI/Kep/1996, and accommodated within the Faculty of
Marine Science and Fisheries under Minister of Education and Culture Decree No.
036/0/1996 dated 29 January 1996.

The establishment of MSSP is very relevant to the achievement of the Hasanuddin
University vision as a Centre of Excellence for the development of the humanities, science,
technology, arts and culture, based upon the concept of Indonesian Maritime Continent. In
addition, the establishment of the Marine Science Department is one implementation of the
UNHAS marine/maritime orientation and science-based principles. Currently, the Marine
Science Study Program of the Faculty of Marine Science and Fisheries holds accreditation
grade ìAî, issued by the National Accreditation Board, valid for the period 15th November
2014 – 14th November 2019.

The MSSP vision is to become a leading institution in Indonesian coastal and marine
education, conservation and resource exploration by 2018. To achieve this vision, the study
program has the following mission: To provide coastal and marine biological resource
exploration and conservation education, research, science and technology development and
community outreach. Strategies to achieve the MSSP vision and mission include continual
improvement in terms of updating the instructional processes and the supporting facilities
both on-campus (e.g. classrooms, laboratories, library/reading room, communications
technology, etc.) and off-campus (e.g. marine station and research ponds). The aim is to
provide a conducive environment for the exchange, creation, and application of scientific
knowledge as well as personal development of the academic community.

MSSP development has included revision of the curriculum, refinement of course outlines
and teaching materials, increasing the average percentage of face-to-face lectures (now >
90%), lecturer recruitment, lecturer capacity building through formal education (doctoral
studies) and vocational training, and an increase in the number of Professors. In the field of
cooperation, the department has established partnerships with several local, national, and
international organizations, focused on marine education, research, and community
development. Activities under these partnerships involve lecturers and students, enhancing
academic interaction at internal, local, national and international levels and in some cases
can assist students with their final research projects.

PROGRAM STUDI

Visi Program Studi Ilmu Kelautan

Program Studi Ilmu Kelautan, Universitas Hasanuddin merupakan salah satu program studi di Fakultas Ilmu Kelautan dan Perikanan, Universitas Hasanuddin, yang dalam menyusun visi dan misinya, menyelaraskan visi dan misi Universitas dan Fakultas sehingga pencapaian dan pengembangan dapat dilakukan secara sinergi.

Perumusan Visi Program Studi Ilmu Kelautan didasarkan pada Visi Universitas dan Fakultas. Visi jangka panjang Universitas Hasanuddin adalah sebagai Pusat Unggulan dalam Pengembangan Insani, Ilmu Pengetahuan, Teknologi, Seni, Budaya berbasis Benua Maritim 2030, sedangkan Visi Renstra FIKP 2014-2018 adalah menjadi Pusat Rujukan Pengembangan Pengelolaan Sumberdaya Pesisir dan Laut pada tahun 2030.  Berdasarkan visi universitas dan fakultas serta hasil lokakarya Renstra PS Ilmu Kelautan maka maka ditetapkan visi PS-IK adalah:

” Menjadi Pusat Pendidikan dan Pengembangan Eksplorasi dan Konservasi Sumberdaya Pesisir dan Laut di Asia Tenggara 2030”

Misi Program Studi Ilmu Kelautan

Menyelenggarakan pendidikan, penelitian, pengembangan ilmu pengetahuan dan teknologi, dan pengabdian masyarakat di bidang kalautan, mempunyai misi:

  1. Menyelenggarakan pendidikan berkualitas bidang eksplorasi dan konservasi sumberdaya pesisir dan laut yang menjamin berkembangnya kapasitas pembelajar inovatif dan proaktif.
  2. Mengembangkan ilmu pengetahuan dan teknologi di bidang kelautan, khususnya eksplorasi dan konservasi sumberdaya pesisir dan laut
  3. Melaksanakan kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat dan mengembangkan kemitraan dengan institusi lain dalam rangka pengelolaan sumberdaya pesisir, laut dan pulau-pulau kecil.
